Where Writing Takes On A Life Of Its Own...

I work with so many mothers on a daily basis, most of our clients are Hispanic and African American. You try with positive words, alternatives (many of our moms are convicted felons) . When I talk about work, obtaining a job, they talk about where they are going to get the money for their next weave. All jokes aside, but your hair and nails are the least of my concern right now. How about feeding the children you have and putting a roof over your head and speaking like a lady not like you came out of a closet after so many years, because I know you didn't. They look at me; they are clueless. And another point I would like to state is this. I don't know what to make up of these people, especially moms who love to sit on the phone all day gossiping and talking about their own friends and family. This is not good, if you have time to do this, then you have time to go out and get a job. It's uncool and somebody is perhaps out there talking about you, being a big gossip. I know people who do this all day. It's pretty boring and annoying, I suppose that is all they know how to do. Moms get a bad wrap because they usually don't do the things that normal American moms tend to do. They rely more on their self image and looks, hair, nails, and dress, they are obsessed with themselves and forget that they are moms. The above is important, but not everybody can be a model or an actress or a superstar, but you can sure get buy with being a good looking mom. But you also need to keep a respectful profile and act like one also.

Yesterday I held a rally in front of our commissioner's office. I brought along several professional African American females and hispanics with me. It was a poor site to see. They were embarrassed to stand there with signs to support a cause that keeps their jobs, and our services to the poor from closing its doors to the community. I actually had to tell them how to raise their voices, get that sign out there in the face of the public and stand their grounds or else they are going to end up like those people out there sitting on the sidewalk playing dominos. I thought how badly do you want your job. Well, you better take off the high heels and get to work.

Thank you sooo much for writing to this post sister Josie. You bring a very interesting perspective to that topic. I wish you could have come to the show. We do have to help those so called "mothers" who claim to do everything for their children, but really do nothing for them.
